Dear People,
I don`t have a lot to say today, shockingly. Most letters I write are long rants about random gospel topics, some philosophy, some scripture. Then halfway through my letter I always try to find some way to connect what I`m- you know- actually doing as a missionary to the week`s chosen topic.
But this week I`d just like to do something simple. I have to go soon, because I ́m going to a new area- Coelemu- and I need to go and pack. I also need to order some sushi, to give me energy and power for the rest of the day. Apparently Coelemu is beautiful, I`ve heard. I`ll be sure to have my camera ready.
But this is what I`d like to share this week, it`s a verse that I`m sure everyone has heard, but it`s one I always find very inspirational.
Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.
And behold, I am the alight and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter bcup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in ctaking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the dwill of the Father in all things from the beginning.- 3rd Nephi 11: 10-11
I feel that, in the Church, we often get distracted from what the true purpose of the Gospel is. It`s this. The purpose is Jesus Christ, who did the impossible. Who came back. Who helps us every day, even when we don`t realize it. Especially when we don`t realize it.
So this week I`m not going to write anything more. I`m not going to try to have some insightful discourse or try to be profound. Instead I`m just going to let the scriptures do the work for me. And I`m going to ask you all to think about what kind of person you`d be without Jesus Christ in your life. Because I personally can`t imagine it. It`s why I`m here, really. To show people how to live better lives in the only way I know how.
Until next week,
Elder Monson
This new area he will be in is a small branch north of where he is currently serving, his new companion is Elder McCrary. We are excited to see what missionary work look like there. He is happy to have a new adventure.
These pics are from chatting last week...he needed a haircut :)
